- Round 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in the ch-1 space, ch 2, *3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2*; repeat from * to * 5 times, join with a sl st to the top of the ch-3. (12 dc clusters)
- Round 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in the ch-1 space, ch 2, *3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2*; repeat from * to * 5 times, join with a sl st to the top of the ch-3. (18 dc clusters)
- Round 4: Ch 3, 2 dc in the ch-1 space, ch 2, *3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2*; repeat from * to * 5 times, join with a sl st to the top of the ch-3. (24 dc clusters)
- Round 5: Ch 3, 2 dc in the ch-1 space, ch 2, *3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2*; repeat from * to * 5 times, join with a sl st to the top of the ch-3. (30 dc clusters)
- Round 6: Ch 3, 2 dc in the ch-1 space, ch 2, *3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2, 3 dc in the next ch-2 space, ch 2*; repeat from * to * 5 times, join with a sl st to the top of the ch-3. (36 dc clusters)
- Assemble the blanket:
- Lay out the granny squares in the desired arrangement.
- Join the granny squares together using a slip stitch or whip stitch.
- Continue adding granny squares until the blanket is the desired size.
- Make a matching pillowcase:
- Follow the instructions for making a granny square, but stop at Round 5.
- Join the granny squares together to form a rectangle.
- Sew the sides of the rectangle together, leaving an opening for the pillow.
- Insert a pillow into the pillowcase.
